Our Story
MDVic has existed as a group on social communication media since 9 August 2015 providing a platform for building the community and keeping alive the cultural links with Kerala. Meetings have been organised during festivals and other holidays for members to renew their friendships and showcase their cultural talents. On 9 August 2021 the MDVic has been registered as a not for profit organisation with a governing body and a set of objectives.
Our Objectives
- To bring together doctors of Kerala origin who have settled in the state of Victoria for social interactions, wellbeing, cultural practises, educational, scientific, and charitable purposes including organising distributions to other not for profit agencies or legally registered charitable associations.
- To collaborate and provide advocacy on professional matters and work with medical bodies and other associations for meeting the various objectives defined in the constitution.
- To maintain a membership directory of the members and promote formal and informal networking among the members to help explore and help with education and professional development for the members of MD Victoria.
- To develop relationships and maintain collaborations with other associations and professional bodies in Australia and overseas with similar interests to achieve the objectives mentioned above.
- The association shall not have any religious, political or sectarian affiliation.
- To contribute to the wellbeing of the immigrant community of Kerala origin.
- To serve the wider Victorian community for health-related needs as approved by the governing council.
- To provide peer support to the members of MD Victoria and their families.
- To promote and provide opportunities for social, arts, sports and cultural activities.
- To seek out and apply for external funding and sponsorship from agencies as required to meet the purposes of the association, without any binding obligation or compromise on the rights of individual members on freedom to choose different products due to receiving sponsorship from a particular agency or business.
- To provide mentorship and support to the new migrant doctors of Kerala origin.
- To carry out such other functions as may be entrusted by MD Victoria general body meeting from time to time.
